Progress

“Thanks to national NTD integration efforts and public–private partnerships between national NTD programs, USAID and other funders, pharmaceutical companies and international NTD control program administrators such as END in Africa, per-person MDA costs have been cut by more than 50 percent, from 27 cents to just 12 cents.”

Ghana and Togo have already stopped mass treatments for at least one NTD

Since 2012, END in Africa has conducted 354 disease assessments to track the decline of NTDs in its countries in Africa. As disease prevalence is reduced below World Health Organization thresholds, countries can stop mass treatments. However, they still need to keep up surveillance to ensure the diseases don't return.
